Due to the new tournament layout taking a bit longer than was hoped to get up and running smoothly, I'm looking to have a short, impromptu'ish quest on Thursday evening. Timeline is gonna be after 10PM EST sometime, and I will do something for about 60 to 90 minutes.
There are no sign-ups, but now people have a 2 day warning so they can be online if they want to participate. I don't know at this point if PK will be part of this or not, it will depend on what we do.
I am also open to ideas for quick, easy to prepare quests or other ideas of the sort (IE headhunts, headhunt scrabble, scavenger hunts, etc.) Post ideas here and if I find something that is easily workable that looks like it will be fun I will give it a shot.

do a scavenger hunt. Make a bunch of no_locate objects, and put them on various mobs. Perhaps post a list of clues in each major town's inn or something, and people could go out and look for them. It would be everybody for themself for finding items, so the items would mostly be found in soloable areas(or atleast a place you can survive in solo long enough to find the item), with the harder to get items being worth more points.
The winner(s) would get perhaps a good item, or a rank(or just some rank xp), or coins, whatever.
Or even better, my old CtF idea. people are flagged for a certain town's team, like maybe palanthas and kalaman. When an opposing teammember enters your town, the guards are aggro to them, yell, and actively help you kill them/protect the flag. The flag would be loaded onto a mob that would sit in an area decided by the team, or perhaps just in a continer in one of the rooms. An example would be that perhaps the flag for palanthas would be in Amothus's chambers. Dying to an enemy team's player/mobs would not result in any xp/rank loss.

Neat idea, but not quick to prepare me thinks.
Re:Thursday Oct 7
Wouldn't take long to setup. People who want to join, join. Everyone who joins is given the tournament flag so that they don't lose anythign when they die. You could shout who is on what team, and just use generic zones and have it be purely pc team vs pc team. Wouldn't be as detailed, but it could still be interesting.
Re:Thursday Oct 7
Tournament flags go on rooms currently not on players.
Hence, either some creation work (i suppose a tournament copy of the towns could be made.) or a lot more work to get it to work right.
I don't suppose people would be interested in playing capture the flag with the possibility of real deaths?
Re:Thursday Oct 7
Doubtful.
What about recreating something similar to that Takhisis quest thing that Scrappinak ran a few wipes ago. You participated in it, Sancho, remember?
Re:Thursday Oct 7
I hope to do a large scale quest again in November if my schedule will allow it.
Thursday night will likely be a scavenger hunt.

Quest last night
I would just like to thank Sancho and whoever may have also helped with last night's quest even though I didn't find any leaves, heh. It definitely seemed like the type of quest that is very repeatable. It was short and sweet. Have you been able to automate the majority of the prep for this one? You didn't actually have to go through and load all of those leaves, right? It's scripted somewhat?
Anyways, thanks again.
P.S. Any hint on the types of prizes were won? Just want to know how hard to try next time, heh.
Quest Review
It was pretty fun, I must say.
When it started, my group and I were thinking, "Screw this and let's zone and get tons of xp and load stuff while they fight over leaves."
Mid-way through a zone, one of us suggested locating the leaves for the heck of it. We did and found out that there are a number of them in our zone. Needless to say, we got pretty excited and finished off the zone as quickly as possible so that we might start on the next hunt for a complete set.
In the end, we ran out of time and never managed to complete the sets. We exchanged the leaves for coins instead.
Well, we had fun with it, that's for sure. Too bad it ended quickly. It's no biggy, but it's nice to see something like this once in a while.
Re:Thursday Oct 7
it was nice that the quest was something anyone could do and not just high groups.
i started out soloing any easy zone i could think of and later joined with one friend and ended up with 11 leaves.
was good fun. thanks sancho
Re:Thursday Oct 7
I really enjoyed the quest. At first I wasn't really involved in it, as I was loading a book for my mage, but going thru the zone we happened upon about 4 leaves so we decided to keep an eye on them. Didn't compleate any sets, but did manage to make some coins. It was a good time by all, and the best part was still being able to continue normal zoning and be a small part of it. I'd love to see the leaf quest again. Good job Sancho, and thank you. Last night was defintly a high point in the mud.

Yeah fun times, especially being in the group to complete gold set hehe.
Still not sure what that prize was though, not like it was going to me anyway!
