July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

This quest is now open for sign-ups via e-mail only. Send your class, level, and alignment to sancho@mud.arctic.org The quest is only open to those who are level 24 and higher, and you need to be level 24 when you sign up.

On quest day, you need to be online no later than 2:30 PM System Time, and we will begin promptly at 3:00 PM (if possible). The quest can handle up to 60 people for the first part, so please, anyone and everyone that is interested and of the appropriate level, come have fun.

During the quest time, no one will be allowed to pkill anyone involved with the quest, and participants will not be allowed to pkill either. All participants will be expected to act politely towards immortals and mortals alike. Expect the quest to last up to 3 hours. If you cannot stay that entire time, you may still participate in the first part.

Everyone who enter the quest and participates, even if only slightly, will get a reward of some sort or another. This quest is *not* meant just for the elite players or clans, but for every high level player of the game.

If you have questions, please post a reply to this thread. Details about how the quest will be run or what it pertains will not be made available to anyone, so don't ask.

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

Could you please set a deadline of when entries should be in?

Deadline

Deadline to sign up for the quest will be Thursday July 8th, 12 Midnight System Time. Unless I get 60 players who sign up before then, in which case I will post here that sign ups are closed and that I will only be taking further sign-ups as replacements, but at this point I don't think there will be a full 60.
However, if on quest day people don't show up and replacements are needed, I will shout for them so some people who haven't signed up may have a chance to get a freebie entry if they are around on quest day.

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

You've addressed the Pkill aspect, but how about the death aspect. Can you die, or will you only "faint" to awaken in a safe room? If you can die, do you lose experience, gear. If you can lose experience/gear, what happens if a person enters at level 24, dies, and is then 23?

I'm mearly inquisitive, no disrespect meant, once I find out if I have to work or not that weekend, I'll be signing up myself.

Death, whatnot

Yes you can die, and yes it will cost you exp just like a normal death. You will have to depend upon your group to retrieve your corpse for you or summon you back, or whatever might be applicable(I don't want to reveal details of the quest itself). If there are any level 24's in the quest, and they do happen to delevel, they will be permitted to continue on. The quest will be in two parts, the first will be very similar to day-to-day life on Arctic, except that PK will be prohibited for those in the quest. The second part will bit slightly different, but not much.

I hope people don't get scared off by the possibility of death, and the possibility of death w/o a CR(this is unlikely, but possible). Of course everyone will just have to judge for themselves if the risk vs reward makes the quest worthwhile.

Please keep the questions coming if people have any more.

Sancho I want to give you a pat on the back for doing something to make the place more interesting. This quest is the first thing that has made me regret deleting!

Hopefully people won't worry too much about not dying or losing equip and just have fun with this. Just go out and play the game!

LFG around 22 to achieve 24 in order to join quest!

If you want to level a particular character to level 24, or would like to aid myself in leveling a 22 barb to 24, please advise. I'd like to be involved in the quest, and would be an opportunity to become a harmonious group before the quest begins.

please advise...

My barb is Krull (neutral) and not currently in any clan

I have some questions

You say the min level is 24. Since I'm assuming you're going to get a few of the higher ranked clannies, how worthwhile are those L24 chars going to be? I remember some quests where a group had to fight several difficult mobs in one room (Faldainen + Caiaphus for example, both controlled by gods) and we know that a L24 in a fight like that would be pointless and a waste of a group spot. Are the lower level chars going to be useful in any way ?

Secondly, will logs of this be posted (or be allowed to be posted) ?

Another thing, is there a chance of group limits being changed or removed (especially for some of the buffer fights, assuming you have some) so that everyone can just get involved for the hell of it ? Personally, I'd love to see a fight against some uber buff cheat mob where the whole group of survivors jumps in and tries to gank it, but that's just me.

Thanks.

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

what is prizes for a win and where can we see who is in quest?

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

I doubt all 60 people will be in a group together.

The idea will probably be that the high ranked chars are in a group with the "hard" section of the quest, and the level 24s will have an equally important, but less difficult part.

Sign me up

Sir Staven the Soulless, DK, lev 26. Unless, of course, there happen to be holy evil things in the quest. *chuckle*

email your info to sancho@mud.arctic.org or you won't be signed up

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

Sancho, it's all the people who don't say anything that are the ones who appreciate these quests. If I roll and level to 25 tonight hopefully you'll save a spot for me :P

Re:July 10th, 2004 Quest Details

If there is a quest on this Sunday, please don't put in the mobs 4 days ahead and wandering on a MAJOR ROAD. Many mid level people run around Sageway West, west of Solace and many people got killed (of course including me, that is why this whine). IF there is a need to have these mobs in place so early, a simple notice or news article saying that the dragonarmies have ALREADY taken over the outpost and caution should be practised when travelling near it. This "i don't care" attitute of imms when they caused deaths (and many hours of levelling) because they don't see that putting 2x massacring mobs on the roads as a problem. Well, they (the imms) never admit their mistakes anyway.

I admit that the sign was put into place about a half hour after I sent the mobs loose. So a few people did die before I did all the notifications I felt necessary. I even gave one guy a free cr.
