Dragon Mounts & Spells

Any thought of giving dragon mounts spellbooks so they can cast a few spells? Basically every dragon mob in the game is a caster of some sort, so it's certainly not a stretch. For instance, blue dragons might get the old, single target 'resist electricity' spell by default, with the ability to purchase some other low level mage spells like blur and shield (no frags at all). Bronze dragons might get low clerical spells like cure light, aid, and perhaps cloak of bravery. Other appropriate spells, +slots and unlocking of a second/third circle as prereqs for them might be available for purchase as well. Just a thought to give them a bit more supportive rather than combative role.

Give a DK mage buffs, you

Give a DK mage buffs, you lower down mages groupability and raise DK's. not to menchin that they already have a str/blur style spell, giving them unlimited access to that is retarded. Give the dragons cleric buff spells and its basicly extra slots for the dk. Give the dragon offensive spells and i'll show you how to abuse the hell out of it. It's a cool idea, but DK's are already amazingly strong. Giving them cure light is essentially worthless. Giving them cure serious starts to make the DK into an over powered soloer. IF anything i would add either self targeted spells only, such as shield, or give them the not so used alternative support stuff like clot or delay death, but again that would be invaiding on another class.

Though it would be fun to play. Sides i would like to see a dragon be able to attack while mounted in combat, and perhaps have a skill in battle that actually support the DK other then swoop, which is rare to use. Give thm like bite aka punch with bleed rather then confuse.

I didn't say to give the

I didn't say to give the clerical spells to DKs, I suggested giving them to *bronze* dragons - i.e. to paladins. Cure light would, in my opinion, be far from useless in a solo or a small group of only tank types: a dragon able to mem a few cure lights per tic essentially grants an extra ~50 hp regen per tic to someone or itself, which is certainly handy. Giving either paladins or DKs cure serious would be too much, and in the case of DK's even cure light is wholly unnecessary and overboard as they are already easily capable of regenning 200 hp per tic, or double that in the right room.

I also said that no frags at all should be given to them - dragons already do plenty of damage as it is and don't need any more spells, skills or really anything directly related to combat IMO. As it is now, the majority of a blue dragon's abilities are focused on combat -- I feel that there should be more supportive-type options for those who would rather specialize their pets in that direction. I think it's really cool when a char/pet/etc can be guided down various paths with differing specialties. You could choose to make your dragon fully support-focused or fully combat-focused, or a hybrid of the two. Giving people these sorts of options is much more fun, and also leads to a much greater variety of characters in the end.

As for decreasing the groupability of mages/druids/shamans by giving blue dragons blur - I sincerely doubt it. It's not like they mem a full circle's worth of blurs to buff the whole group; blur is usually reserved for only themselves and sometimes the main tank.

Giving the dragon spells

Giving the dragon spells that arent self cast only is giving the dk those spells basicly. Though i absolutly agree with your idea of moving the pets down the differnt paths. It would be very nice to have differnt dragons as well. The blue dragon, which can bash, breathe electricity and do nice meele damage, a red dragon who breathes fire, can rescue and has a chance to block an attack, or a white dragon that breathes cold, can cast cure spells in combat, but only hits very weakly, or a green dragon that breathes acid, has high end meele damage, and no spells and only support skills.

The only problem i'm seeing with this is that without the pet, the dk's pretty strong as is. In a zone it's far stronger then a basher, so anything you give the dragons reflects that, and new skills and abilitys bring that character to a whole new level. For instance, swoop alone is virtually worthless, yet with the dk the combination of another skill can make it one of the better skills in the game peroid. I'd like to see the dk's have a little less chance involved in pk, nerfed slightly, and to give greater veriety to the dragons myself. Also one thing that always bothered me, was impair you gotta use swords only right? doesn't vermillion use maces? Doesn't sturms kid use two handed swords?

As for paladins i would really like to see the dragon have abilitys usefull in pk. I would like to see the dragons also have differnt paths. And upgrades accordingly to the crown/sword/rose. As it is paladins are basicly moving walls, where dk's are the teeth of the hybrid fighter class. I think the dragons should be used to offset that and allow them to either go for a more refined idea of how they want to play there class. As it stands a scout can go arrows/damage, meele/damage, skills/def, it would be nice to see a paladin that is able to go def/crowd control, def/offensive, or def/support by there choice.
