Why do you want the 100 point rank system back? The one in place just needs a few slight tweeks to be properly on par with the old rank system, if that was the intention. As it stands upper end ranks are too far out of reach and some prices really need some love. 5 rp for 1 dam? Gag me. Dam is not THAT nice (Well mostly due to the fact I don't play thieves 5 point worth it for them). Lots of cheaper things I like better at this point. 5 point for 10 hp? I get a lot more milage out of the 3 con. I get much higher in rank and hp is no longer my goal, maybe true sight is... True sight ELITE 10 hp, not so much.... stats, priced right... hp and dam aren't. Although I would charge more for dam on a thief. A cleric? 5 points? dam wouldn't be much more then a toy on cleric, same for any caster. A druid can pay 6 rp for + circle 6 (I hope this isn't game info?) so can a cleric... +circle 8 is the same for both as well.... I would love +6 on cleric while +8 is important on a druid. +6 is a toy for druid and pretty much the same for cleric (8 sunray capable or so? 5 mist? Likely some overlap +gate, +steelskin for the rest?)

It would be nice if someone would adjust these ranks based on useability by the class. As it is they are priced by how nice they are to the class they work best for.

I think ranks would be more interesting if they were arranged in some sort of table, with pre-requisite ranks required before taking other ranks. Also, these rank tables would be largely unique to each class, and actually even better would be ranks unique to each race as well. Rank costs could be completely re-done.

Racial ranks, obviously, would need to be balanced very carefully.

Example, mage ranks.

tier 0 (these can be taken initially)

  • trained intellect, +1 int (1rp, can be taken 2 times)
  • mental focus, reduced chance of lost concentration/interruption due to damage (1rp, can be taken 2 times)
  • ancient knowledge, +5 learn (1rp, can be taken 2 times)
  • tier 1 (requires 3rp spent on tier 0 rank abilities)

  • unnatural fortitude, +1 con (1rp, can be taken 2 times)
  • natural genius, +3 int (2rp, can be taken 1 time, requires 2 points in trained intellect)
  • blah blah etc.

    Feats that you would choose as you level up and meet the prereq's that would be permanant and you can't change them. EXOTIC WEAPON PROFICENCY FFS.
