Sorry, I updated the specs on the bows and left something out on a few. I fixed all of the existing ones so this shouldn't happen anymore.
I've seen a similar issue
I've seen a similar issue with poison - if I'm fighting a poisoned mob and it dies from poison on tick, I get no experience for it. Not sure about ranks, though.

Somebody said this is still happening, if it is I'm not sure it's fixable at the moment. Because of the way the specials have to work with shooting, if they are done the 'right' way to make it so you get exp, it will also draw you into combat. The only suggestion I can give for those who have these weapons is to turn on "prompt aim" to see your opponents condition and try not to shoot when you think you might get a killing hit. It's a crummy (temporary?) fix but probably the safest bet at the moment.
