Gag me! Most of these other top 20 muds suck really bad. Why should arctic have to compete with this trash? We should make our own mud ranking site and have arctic always sitting on top. Arctic is ranked 1A with Aardvark mud or whatever the shit that gay ass mud is called as 1B with it's 500 friggin asian bots voting for it every second.

It's weird. A lot of those other muds have strange stuff that makes people vote or something funky like that.

Many of those same muds also spam players if they don't donate to the game. I think next time I'm working a soup kitchen I'll follow people around tugging at their sleeves until they give me money for my efforts.

Seriously though, I've spoken at length to a number of people who try muds solely based on #1 rankings on sites like that. They tend to be the people most likely to quit when the mud isn't as easy/fun as they expect it to be, or isn't precisely what they're looking for. Not that it doesn't/won't help draw new players in, but I think voting only isn't terribly effective.

Oh, something else I've found also - if people do navigate to arctic's site, they usually end up perusing the forums. How many threads on here end up degenerating into mindless, mud-slinging drivel that has 0 to do with the topic? I've done it myself, so I know I'm guilty - but really, the quality players are the ones most turned off by that stuff, and quality players are something everyone can agree we need more of here. So just some food for thought, y'all - let's use the forums as an instrument to promote the mud as well as give feedback.
