From what I've read soley in the log posted by nol, you were highlighted/killed for looting/assisting a pk target. It's common knowledge that if you loot/recall/assist an enemy of a clan, that you are now an enemy. It makes perfect sense that they killed your character. I'd be amazed if I did what you did and wasn't hunted/highlighted/killed. I don't see any probloms with them killing you for assisting an enemy, for all they knew, you were some trash looter from clan xyz, or just a random guy looting their kill. Now the question you should be raising is why was Kunuk killed, you might have a valid point if you go that direction, but them killing you in and of itself was compleatly legit.

Charles is a vicious randomer. I have him highlighted and most of our clan tries to kill him once or twice per zone. But he is way too tough and hard to kill. We've lost hundreds of equipment sets trying to defeat dagam.

For wildlaws PK is like an artform? That is rich. You realize that earlier in the day, they refused to fight BSP when they were 19 or 20 and BSP was 14? The 14 of us knew we were probably not going to win against 19+ when we couldn't use area but we wanted to fight anyway.

I PK for the love, sir. But I do show some restraint. Matke was allowed to sit in that room for almost 60 seconds even when I thought he was going to try something. I was going to leave him alone. When he looted Kunuk, being level 6 and having crap eq did not protect Shiatan. About Kunuk, he was highlighted evil. People are highlighted either because they're a certifiable known evil or help evils in any way. Kunuk fell into the second category. Some final thoughts, at least when I go after you, it's usually just me. When wildlaws go after you, 6 of them will pile on 1 of you, and they make mistakes too.

I think what's really sucky about it, is that:

1) Newbies (who are less 'bonded' to the game as more veteran players) who are killed like this, are more likely to leave than experienced players (because they don't see the justice of it.. They're just killed for no apparent reason with no way of retaliation).

2) Newbies are like 10x more likely to help a clan enemy, because they have no clue. They just think they're innocently helping someone out.

So the situation of killing anyone who has anything to do with even remotely benefiting an enemy by one molecule, is a natural born newbie weeder.

I think the mud can use less mavlads+company.
So the imms should really think about implementing that new pk system before the ranks system. We could use less mavlads+company anyway, so let them rent in boredom.

The new pk system will let new and curious/adventurous players play more often, and with less anxiety of losing everything due to simply being at a recup room.

Honestly, the answer is "Yes". (That would be interpreting your question with a boolean-OR flavor)

The game is for everyone who plays it. Sure, that's impossible. Either way, someone on either side has to get screwed.

The fact of the matter is that there will always be disparity between players. If we had a totally uniform mud (i.e., everyone achieved high ranks easily), then it would only be fun for the newb-type players. We probably want something more of a bell curve, with most players titling/geting 28ish, a handful getting super ranked, and a handful staying in the tweens. Perhaps I'll compile level statistics from the last few wipes and see what kind of curves they [i]do[/i] make. (Perhaps not; I'm sort of lazy...)

Realize that I'm not saying that most people shouldn't be able to get ranked. I'm saying that most people won't commit the time it takes, the learning it requries, et cetera. I'll definitely rank a character or two this wipe, because I want to and because I've done it before. A few wipes ago, my goal was simply titling a character or two. We can't expect the influx of new players to desire and attain ranks (or even titles) the first time around.

Part of what sucks about learning is that there will be people who are bigger than you, who kill you. I think it would be nice to provide protection to those who need it. I think its ridiculous to off two lowbies for clan ties. If BSP won't regulate itself, I agree they should be regulated. If you really want revenge, wait until the guy actually has a teensy bit of a chance and then whack him. It'll be more gratifying, I assure you; and, it won't piss people off, because you won't be (potentially) killing newbies.

Well, after dealing with several self proclaimed "newbies" about removing highlights I've seen that lots of people lie.

Out of 8 "newbies" or "neutrals" I've dealt with, 6 were given peace, and 5 turned around and assisted enemies in battle (and turned out to be lowbie chars from the enemy clan lying to keep from being hunted)

That's the problem with trying to protect "newbies" - people lie and say they're newbies to gain that protection.

The way we could know that someone is a newbie, or a neutral, is via IP address traces, Email checks, and player information checks - None of which is available to clans to use. Without something like that, or some sort of account system (that ties all chars from a single player to a single account) there's no good way to protect neutrals without massive work on the part of clans (which most aren't willing to put in that much work when we can kill someone first, then determine they're a true neutral afterwards)

As people have pointed out, those times last wipe when the sides agreed to allow people to group freely, was when people were having quite a bit of fun.
