Title: Raising the normal rank limit of 50
Post by: Vasagh on January 12, 2020, 02:00:19 PM
Is there any good reason for limiting ranks to 50 seeing as you can get to rank 62 through re-incarnation.

I think it would be nice if you could reach 62 (or higher?) without having to re-incarnate or a mixture of re-incarnating and ranking normally could have a max limit of 62 whichever way you achieve it?

The progression can be very slow but it's better than not ever gaining anything.

I agree.
Perhaps because this has been a longer wipe more people have hit rank 50. More than likely it is because of the change in rank refresh that happened earlier in the wipe. Regardless, more people have reached rank 50 this wipe, and while reincarnation is great, I see no reason why players who want to continue playing cannot continue to add ranks. The argument that it makes players overpowered does not seem to ring true - what can a player do with 64 ranks they they couldn't do with 62?

That said, I believe that ranking past 50 (not including reincarnation ranks) should be painfully slow - basically 10% harder each iteration. Thus a max dynamic rank would be .18 after 50, .16 after 51, reaching a point  where max rank would be under 0.05. This would make progression so slow that players would not just be able to "power-up" to rank 100, but at least there would be some slight and gradual reason to keep playing a character you've put 30 days of game play into.

I don't have a r50 but if there was a rule of "After a pwipe the rank cap is 50 for X months then goes up by 5 every Y months" that'd give the max rank people something extra to look forward to.  Sure you'll hit eventual thresholds of "this 6x reincarnated character can now legend and run double dmg shields or steelskin+dmg shield+whatever" but that's a staggering amount of playtime.

It'd be a small, yet possibly significant, power gain but it wouldn't mean a player's about to go solo Cyan.  Though it does mean that high ranked, heavily gear 8 man legend group is going to have a better chance at killing it and maybe better luck at avoiding a wipe to bad rng.
