Title: Patch notes as at 20/08
Post by: Jorquin on August 20, 2016, 05:35:10 AM
Below is a list of changes that have been made broken into four sections. Enjoy.

Items and item loads
Below are listed some of the changes to items and item load rates. This does not include spells, that is in a separate category. I couldn't list all the changes, so some you'll have to discover for yourselves.

Spells and spell loads

World changes

Other changes

Damage messages
Staggers from your fearsome hit and enshrouded in a mist of blood have been removed. Obliterates now range up to 100ish HP. Anything above 100 will have a different message - mutilate. This was chosen basically because it rhymes with annihilate and obliterate. Eviscerates was a close second. See below:
Jorquin obliterates YOU with its hit.
Jorquin mutilates YOU with its hit.

World bosses
Ten world bosses have been added around the world. They've been created on relatively short notice, so some may be ruthlessly overpowered while others might be not quite ruthless enough. If you attempt any of these please log it so that I can see for balancing purposes. They are scattered around the world in easily accessible locations (vague clues will be given below) to allow easy CR if you get wrecked. You will be able to spot the entrance to each boss's lair due to an object called "a wall of swirling shadows" on the ground outside. This wall will block pk flagged characters from entering. The rooms are also capped at 5 players. Only one boss can be alive at any point, and they will not spawn frequently. They have good rewards which should not get maxed, though I'll be keeping a close eye on how much of their equipment is floating around and may adjust the boss load rate accordingly. Below are some clues on locations. You will likely find their lairs during your travels, but I thought it would be fun to start people speculating.

Clues:

Races
Races have changed substantially. I will transfer the full post to this forum and sticky it. Help files haven't been updated yet, so please refer to the forum for guidance when choosing your race.

Ranks
Ranks have been adjusted and in general made cheaper. This reduction in cost is mainly in line with coins, though some ranks have had their rank cost reduced as well. Additionally there are several new ranks. Head down to the rank merchant to check them out.

Thanks for the heads up, the single most critical update you've made by far.

Safe to assume mutilate is a two-way street?
It also applies to not only receiving damage but also dishing out damage as well?

Are all of these changes live now or going live after the wipe?

I'm excited either way!

The shield of Huma is now awesome again. The sword of Huma is better than it was, but still pales in comparison to the shield.

Btw why is the weapon of huma is a sword and not a lance? I think this was always a problem and originates from the time when there was no polearm skill or something. Also it would be good if only paladins and warriors could use this weapon, so making it polearm would be a good change.

Mutilate seems like an overlap with the mutilated barb skinned corpses.

Make it DECIMATE!

In the patch notes it mentions the zone "Skullcap". Is that the official zone name? What name do I put for "help area x" because "help area skullcap" doesn't bring up anything.

Thanks!

Yeah, there are a lot of different names for zones. I'm not sure what Skullcap is actually called, but Irda for example is actually called "Dragon Isle Chain" and Shayds is actually "Forest Shrine of Habbakuk". I think help files should be attached to these, like say if I typed "help area Irda" i would get the proper help file. I can't remember the last time someone called Irda "Dragon Isle Chain"...

So does anyone know the official name of Skullcap in "help area x"?

Foreword:  My appologies.  It's late and my computer is borked so I'm bored while reimaging it.

The helpfile does appear to be missing, and I'm completely not an IMM, but I thought I would write up a help file for you on a lark.

SKULLCAP
=======

Long ago a really bad zone was created.  Despite many attempts to make a similarly wretched zone all backups of lesser evils were intentionally destroyed.  Lesser evils created by Thavian, or Caverns of Earth...hell nothing could withstand the onslaught of stupid that some imm resurrected.  Skullcap was unique in it's sheer awfulness.  Expect undeads, expect a very hard to solve clean solution with the group cap around 5 legends.  This was a zone so bad that Skeletor's voice acting would seem like a platinum record.  For those hardy high level adventurers successful expect gear that is almost cheat-worthy in nature, despite nerfing and balancing to not be insanely overpowered.  A thief, while not useful, might be desired.  As would those who can destroy the undead minions that grace this piece of hemorrhoid.

RECOMMENDED LEVELS:

Skullcap is suited to those who know it or large clans who have logs.  Casual players are advised to stay away.  You must be legendary to enter I believe, however the zone has traditionally been so buggy perhaps you could random teleport into it with a level 7 mage.

LOCATION:

Skullcrap was last seen somewhere in the medial proximity to Thordbardin.

"Suited to those who know it or large clans who have logs"... rofl

However much time it took you to write that post, I love it!

(but i'd still like to know the names of those unnamed zones... another one that comes to mind is nytes! what is the actual zone name already?!)

Nytes real name is:
Dragonarmy Refuge

FYI: Nyte was Nuitari's name as a mortal, which is why it is called Nytes.

There was a dragonarmy refuge BEFORE this one: it was much easier

Skullcap doesn't actually seem to have a helpfile, though I think it used to.  The proper name to the zone is "Mountain Fortress".
There's other full zones out there that don't have helpfiles, some have extremely minimalist ones (Cloud Kingdom), or oddball alternate names ("gay waterzone").

"The fortress of Zhaman was destroyed in the blast that ended the Dwarfgate Wars. The tower fell in upon itself and melted into the shape of a leering skull. Thus, it is now known as Skullcap."
