NEWS / December 19, 2021 --- Christmas Event: Gnomish Toy Factory
« Last post by Anista on December 20, 2021, 05:18:30 AM »
Happy Holidays!

Gnomish toy factories are renown for mass producing toys at Christmas time
to bring happiness and joy to the children of Krynn, the most famous of
which is the legendary toy factory of Sandy Klorze.

Recently, rumors have been circulating of nefarious groups planning to
attack these facilities which, when coupled with reports of a frantic
gnomish tinkerer near the western gate of Palanthas seeking the aid of
stalwart adventurers, can only mean trouble. Or perhaps it represents
opportunity, as there will certainly be fantastic festive rewards for the
valiant heroes who save Christmas!

The seasonal Christmas instance zone has a 24-hour lockout, meaning each
character can only enter once per 24 hours. There is also a 90 minute timer
to complete an instance. The event will be available between now and New
Year's Day.

Special thanks to Jorquin for creating this masterpiece, and most
importantly, Merry Chistmas and Happy New Year to you all!

I would like to make a request for essences to be put back in.

ATM every other caster class can legend without a great deal of effort. I am not really speaking for myself, but for those who don't have access to the game knowledge or the people/clans to do the (i think) 3 fights that actually load stone now.

I'm unsure why we didn't leave essences in AND put the tablet somewhere. Mages have multiple ways of obtaining their big spells. Quest etc. Shaman doesn't require a major fight to get their stuff.

I would keep healing cloud and etc on those fights. Cloud is a powerful spell. And not needed for legend. So I can understand it being on a difficult fight.

I don't however understand the need to make it harder to legend a druid for some people.

Those who didn't like essences to begin with can still just chase the tablets. BUT For those who don't have the ability to do the fights required to get the spell; should be able to choose to just chase the essences.

The drop code needs to tie in the class and alignment of the people involved in the kill.

60% compatible to one class in group.
60% compatible to alignment of the chosen class.

That or offer a trading house so these restricted items can easily reach people who actually might want to use them.

Why put in a system that people cannot take advantage?

Mages are the best, that's why.
If they are decaying already, they were probably a lower tiered item that rolled well. The higher tiered dynamic items should last quite longer.

My own observations:

- The overwhelming majority of "good" or at least passable items still seem to be mage items.
- When I do find other good items, they seem to have many class restrictions, so most often I am not able to use them.
- Almost all of the weapons I have found (excepting mage weapons) have been bad.
- Some of the items I have found this wipe have already decayed!

Wanted to give a shout out for the new dynamic items. At first I thought maybe they were to powerful but then it was pointed out that they couldn't be repopped. It's been real nice so far.

For instance. I popped a 3d4 2 2 det_inv +2cl dagger. Not the greatest but worth using on a lvl 25 mage.

So again, great stuff.

Everyone - I would like to make a call to arms for you to find any old PK logs you might have, and reach out to people you still have contacts for to ask them if they have old logs even if they haven't played in years.  Erin S-W (Erin/Gorge/Matashiwa) has done an awesome job taking the logs from suf's old page and posting them on his page  But with that said I am sure there are more logs people may have from years' past that would be fantastic to make public so they aren't lost!  Xanitha had a webpage with a bunch but it appears dead now.  I personally lost my old logs which I had a bunch of and I would love to preserve whatever the community has in a permanent, public space.  I started playing this game when I was 13 and I'm 37 now and would LOVE to read old logs until I'm 70!!

So if you have old PK logs, or have contacts of people who used to play and may still have them, please reach out to them and get them to Erin!
