add a paladin atonement quest (idea) (needed) (wtf?!?!)
« on: May 28, 2014, 03:01:00 AM »

May 28 1:08:46 am: Asuna shouts 'will pay 5 or 10k for a good align atone lvl 30 cleric to help a paladin out'
May 28 2:10:06 am: Asuna shouts 'any goody cleric lvl 30ish on?'
May 28 2:24:41 am: Asuna shouts 'still looking for goodie cleric for an atone. 3+ hours going on this'
May 28 2:25:24 am: Ceyrtech shouts 'remind me not to make a paladin'
May 28 2:31:28 am: Taotaomona shouts 'any tanks 25+ wanna exp'
May 28 2:38:37 am: Asuna shouts 'goody cleric for atone yet?'
May 28 2:53:24 am: Asuna shouts 'i want a bapting atonement, thankfully very few people play and there's no quest or work around so my character is junky till someone with a good align cleric logs on.....this shouldn't take 4 hours 10 hours or 24 hours'

I'll log on tomorrow and start refixing my faith yet again, but really what the hell, what's the point of playing the game if you can't progress soloing and have to burn 12+ hours soloing day after day.

dks have a lvl 31 atone quest, paladins need one too.

My gut response is.... stop killing goodies?

But I guess if it's true there isn't a quest to get atoned, then maybe there should be one.

paladins get...
Spell: Righteous Indignation
Sphere: Combat
Usage: cast 'Righteous Indignation'
Duration: (level * 4) hours
Effects: Temporarily stops changes to faith, at a cost

This spell allows the caster to beseech his deity and request permission to
temporarily strike down his enemies, regardless of how pure their actions
have been in the past.

Please note that this ability is not granted lightly by the gods, and its
useage will place a strain on the caster's relationship with his deity,
both upon the casting of the spell, and for many days afterwards while the
caster proves that his devotion remains true.

they also get..
Spell    : Holy Quest
Sphere   : Combat
Usage    : cast 'holy quest'
Duration : 24 hours
Effects  : Increases the rate at which the caster gains faith

By casting this spell the caster sets out a holy quest against evildoers.
As a result, the caster will find it easier to gain perfect faith when
fighting evil opponents. Vanquishing particularly evil foes, such as unholy
dragons and clerics of Takhisis, will have a massive impact to the caster's
faith.

so a paladin falling low enough that they actually need a restore?!

I think the OP is saying that for whatever reason, when and if you lose status, at the current mud population, it is almost impossible to get a atonement.

Thus the need for a way to regain status through the game and not waiting for a lvl 30 goodie cleric to log.

This is not about ways to avoid losing status.

It's been so long since I played a paladin that I honestly can't even remember how to lose status without going on a goodie killing spree without even bothering to give a damn and use the provided spells. But, I do know that I have never lost status on a paladin on accident.

Umm... yes, I have never lost it on accident. I believe that implies I have done it on purpose, at least once, which I have.

Any good player will want to test all aspects of a given class that they wish to play, even the negative ones.

I have played a paladin to rank 30 or higher every wipe for the last 5 wipes.  I have only lost faith once, but when I did it REALLY sucked.  This is how it happens:

You are running HCT with a big group and have legendary righteous indignation cast.
The spell wears while you are doing the council fight.
You are maining, bashed and punched a LOT and have no chance to recast, if you had even noticed that it wore.
Within the span of that one fight faith is completely lost because there is a holy mob in there as well as many, many level 30+ good mobs.
Unfortunately, every cleric in the game wants wretched medallions and is evil, so you are f'd.

BTW, Randy, private message me.  i DO have a level 30 LG cleric to atone you.

I have been lucky so far in that it's never happened to me on accident, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually lol

Isnt there a high lvl atone potion floating around near Solace...?
Where there are a group of folks who may need it.
