I think one of the problems we are having is too many people like their shinies.  More zones and thus more gear leads to a pk aversion.  We all like pk, or maybe you are the biggest DL goon on the planet.. but gear is too prevalent.  Add non gear rewards to encourage zoning but I want to see everything that's not top tier be the equiv of shop gear.  Make about 20 epic items that decay in 3 days with global notices.  Immediately you have a naked phase thirsty for that one item.  Pk and zoning all the time.

Or you can allow bots.  But that's dumb.

Yes lets make it harder to play (less gear) and more work to maintain gear (short decay times)

Yes i want a second job...

No i want to have fun with gear and spells.

We all know Dyl plays at work from previous posts maybe he has the two confused.

If I'm in charge and I want to have fun, I would do the following

1. Make eq/items/books 100% load.
2. Separate every "good" eq into true and fake, similar to Newport guild masters.
3. Books of some sort should always load. The percent for a real spell loading can stay the same. If a real spell doesn't load, relearn will always be there.

As for the "fake" eq, the stats can be lowered by (50-90)%, no repair, no rent, decays in rl 2hrs.

Make new shops, that trade in these no rent fake eq for preps (pots/scrolls/charmies), xp, coins. The shop will sell these  no rent stuff.

With these changes, you won't have completely dry runs, and some good would come out of that 20 runs to pop that one decayed set eq.

Now i know the dynamics of the available items will be different in Dyl's system. In the past  when you spam a zone forever and finally get your +dam someones been hoarding and then you lose it in short order its demoralizing.

The crux of all these issues is this:

The game is a NON VALUE ADDED time sink. As you get older and your time and attention is taken up by meaningful things your limited free time becomes more valuable. You are less tolerant of wasting time or time being unproductive. So when the game becomes harder or more of a time sink or you lose the ability to effectively use your free time zoning due to lack of players you get frustrated and quit or cheat  or whine on the boards.

The solution to this is easing the game up. Make it easier. Which probably means yes RESTRICT PK as people ask for (i don't want this myself), allow botting/multi-ing (i am pro this) . Reduce exp tables or the area under the curve the same by severely back loading the highest levels. Lower group level sizes make it easier to get higher rank levels so that you need 6 legendaries to do the highest zones.

Many wipes ago at the new wipe Aristox wrote a post about lowering the bar. He wanted the medium player to be rank xx or something, from level 25. THis was the wipe of unlimited gear. I loved that wipe, i learned the most that wipe i had a ton of fun because I had gear i never had before. It made me more competitive in following wipes. Lower the bar!  Maybe aristox remembers that and can comment on why they reverted back.

People who keep bringing up no pk mud or restrict pk is absolutely insane.

This is Arctic Mud. We do pk here. and its not about to change!

For once I agree with Btown... any pk limitations on arctic would be like watching pope do porn, its just wrong.

And I agree with Dyl in that there should be Global messages when epic items decay so clans can masslog and fight. So lame that people can deeprent epic items and just repop them whenever they decay when nobody else has a clue. Although I also believe epic items shouldn't be in cheatzones, so ALL clans could get a shot at them, but that's just my IMO and probably a hard sell.

I also agree with Gulca on all items being 100% load. Its like gee, if you can run a zone and an item is loading, you should get it. Its pretty crappy that there is a % chance and the next guy who comes through loads it even though you were there first.
