Hello, jerks!
We have been hard at work getting things done for the new wipe and
discussing which changes will ruin your lives most effectively. We've
already gotten a lot of work done and we are ready to share some of
that info with you now.
Please note that these changes are not active in game presently.
They will be live when the new wipe begins, not before.
GENERAL:
- The corpses of players will now last twice as long before decaying.
Inconvenient for those of you with a penchant for DTs (oeoe) but good
for others.
- You can now open and close containers while resting. We've come so
far.
- The 'pardon' command is now global. Some messaging was removed so it
isn't annoying.
- Items that decay in rent will now show the actual name of the item.
- Exotic characters are now able to select ANSI option in the character
creation menu.
- Players can now open doors when 'nightfall' is active.
- FEATHERFALL objects will now have the same effect as the spell.
- The 'repose' spell will now work appropriately when resting
underwater.
- The 'blindness' spell will now last half as long, both in and out of
combat.
- Shopkeepers and receptionists now detect invisibility and have
nightvision.
- Spell components have been altered in many small ways.
Mostly they should last longer, be cheaper, weigh less and rent for
less.
- Dumps, swamps and oceans should no longer destroy items.
- The world merchant is no longer concerned with item alignments.
- The bounty boards have been removed from the game after 15ish years of
being unused.
CLANS & STRONGHOLDS:
- Clan elders can now increase their clan's size without the chieftain.
- Maximum clan size has also been doubled since you all have so many
friends.
- The stronghold 'GROVE' asset will now allow use of 'prevailing winds'.
ENCHANTMENT/AFFINITY MEDALS:
- All players in a group eligible for an objective will receive affinity
experience.
- Items with maximum affinity will no longer receive new quests.
- Disenchanting will properly remove all bonus attributes.
- Enchantment effects can now be triggered with by using 'say'.
- Many zones have been added to the affinity objectives.
- Deadbeating your affinity items now reliably returns it to your vault.
ZONES, ZONES, ZONES:
- We have modified the zone classification system. We have added an
'elite' category.
- The listing of zones in HELP AREA has been updated and several zones
have been appropriately reclassified.
- Quite a lot of zone helpfiles have been updated for consistency and
those which did not list suggested level ranges now do.
- New helpfiles have been added for the following areas:
(Note that these are not new zones, just new helpfiles which did not
exist before.)
HELP AREA BALIFOR DOCKYARDS
HELP AREA CELESTIAL VALLEY
HELP AREA FORGOTTEN CRYPT
HELP AREA THE MUSHROOM FOREST
HELP AREA PHAETHON VILLAGE
HELP AREA SILVANESTI SECRETS
HELP AREA TANTALLON
- The Plains of Dust have been replaced with.. the Plains of Dust.
This is an all new zone and more or less complete reimagination of the
entire region. What we have now, thanks to Kholos and his merry band
of helpers, is an expansive and more thoroughly concepted rendition of
the area which offers a wide variety of mobs and quests for players of
all levels and alignments. See HELP AREA PLAINS OF DUST for more
details.
- The road network connecting Tarsis and Port Balifor has been affected
by this change but should still feel familiar and make much more sense
geographically. Other zones attached to the road should still be easy
to find.
- The village of Lantern is gone but some of its residents found new
homes elsewhere.
- The MERCHANT CAMP zone has been moved slightly to accomodate road
changes. The difficulty of this zone has also been reduced slightly.
- Hillshar has been added to the game near Port Balifor.
See HELP AREA HILLSHAR for details. Alecto-land continues to grow..
- Mountain Fortress has returned to the game, now with less nonsense.
See HELP AREA MOUNTAIN FORTRESS for details.
- Graves' End has been renamed Shrivost. HELP AREA SHRIVOST for details.
This zone received a thorough soft revamp and should be better than
ever.
- The 'Archimedes Quest' has been re-implemented. We gave our best
guess. Some small changes have been made to a number of zones to
facilitate this.
- Quite a few zone bugs in various places throughout the game have been
addressed.
ITEMS:
- The nerf to two-handed weapons has been undone. In fact, they're
better than ever.
- Some hundreds of items have been tweaked in many ways, mostly for the
better.
- Some top tier items have been brought back to the realm of reality.
- Items that decay in rent have had their timers increased overall.
We hate this system and are working on a new one, but this will have
to do for now.
- Some cool items have been moved around, other cool items have had
quests associated with them changed in ways which we'll never tell you
but clues now exist for.
These are only some of the changes coming to us in the new wipe. There
is still quite a lot more that we are not ready to share just yet.
There are quite a lot of people to thank for all of this work, and even
more for the rest of it but for now they will live in obscurity until
they finish their damn jobs.
Thanks for playing,
- Kam
