I guess I already know the answer to this question, but I just started playing again after about 18 years away from the game. I created a thief, I think last Thursday or Friday night. He was level 16 on Sunday night.. I guess all that 22+ hours is lost now? He doesn't exist anymore? Maybe I should take this as a sign and not completely fall off the wagon - as this experience reminds me why I quit playing this game in the first place. It's too hard to justify investing hours/days/weeks into a 'project' that can go up in smoke within seconds due to factors out of your control - that being player wipes, system crashes, abusive p-killing, or poorly described / designed DTs. All that said though, I cannot deny this damn game is addicting.
My second question is, is it possible to get a zone file and read it like a book? I created the Lost Mine zone ( which has since been modified ) back in 1994 ( with Fist, Thar, Reorx, Laz, Tasselhoff ( who btw kept stealing your crap when you grouped with him - occasionally saying 'you dropped this' when he returned it... very annoying, but memorable ), but I never really got to enjoy my own zone as a player. I'd REALLY like to see my original zone the most, if that still exists somewhere ( I still have some of the hand written notes when I was designing it - but not a completed, typed version of it ). Being able to 'snoop' through and log the existing zone would work too if my original is gone. I wanted to share it with my son ( who is totally into games like MTG and Minecraft, etc ). I told him about it on Thursday night on our way back from his basketball practice, and that is why I started playing again. If any admin is willing to entertain this request, please let me know. I'd like to get a hard copy for my own nostalgic reasons before this game disappears entirely.
